On June 4th, we welcomed a baker’s dozen Rhodesian Ridgeback puppies into the world, 7 females and 6 males. All puppies except one appear correct according to the breed standard. One female shows an atypical phenotypic expression of the ridge, presenting only a small crown (cowlick) rather than a fully developed ridge. No dermoid sinus has been detected, and no other faults have been identified at this time.

The puppies are now thriving, growing well and keeping us pleasantly busy around the clock. Their mother Navi has proven herself to be an outstanding mother, something that comes as no surprise to us.

In short, this litter has been carefully planned with a clear focus on health and temperament. We only breed combinations we genuinely believe in and that we would be happy to keep ourselves. Our goal has never been to produce puppies simply because they are beautiful. We strive to produce dogs that are mentally sound, healthy, confident and capable of thriving both as family companions and as active partners in whatever adventures life may bring.

Both parents are confident, unafraid dogs with stable temperaments, proven by their BPH (Behaviour and Personality Assessment in Dogs), which showed results above the breed average for confidence and curiosity. While they share these important qualities, Navi is playful and has a strong desire to please, whereas Kenzo is calm and balanced. Together, we expect puppies with a good balance of energy, confidence and stability.

Mentality assessments have been a cornerstone of our breeding programme for generations, alongside health testing. The results from our offspring over the years give us confidence that this long-term strategy is producing Rhodesian Ridgebacks with good nerves and the ability to sort impressions correctly, strong self-confidence, moderate guarding and hunting instincts, and a willingness to cooperate with their owners – at least at a decent level 😉 .

As always, our puppies are raised in our home as part of our family. During their first weeks of life, they are exposed to the normal sounds, smells, and activities of everyday life. As they grow older, they will experience multiple car rides and regularly encounter new environments, visitors, children, cats, and other dogs. In addition, they will spend most of their days outside, playing in our garden or exploring the forest around us several times a day. We train the puppies to respond strongly to recall, giving new owners an invaluable tool to continue working with the puppy in the new home. Daily physical activity will prepare the puppy both physically and mentally for the life ahead. We spend a great deal of time handling, playing with, and socialising our puppies because we believe these early experiences form the foundation for a confident and adaptable adult dog.

The litter has a pedigree COI of 0.00% over 5 generations and 1.75% over 10 generations. The 10-generation ancestor loss coefficient (AVK) is 47.5%, and the Embark estimated genomic COI (eCOI) is approximately 16%, which is below the breed average.

No breeder can guarantee perfect health or a long life. Nature does not work that way. What we can guarantee is that every breeding combination is planned with care, that the parents have undergone extensive health testing and that we do everything within our power to give every puppy the very best possible start in life.

We currently have puppies available for suitable homes, at the time being, both female and male puppies. The puppies are ready to move to their new homes from July 31st.
